Spks Wrld Presents: The Fashion Alchemist featuring Kathiya Roulette
We all are blessed with a special skill but not everyone explores and maximizes that skill to its highest degree. This individual has a unique eye for fashion, and she creates red carpet/ fashion week designs on a daily basis. I would like to introduce Kathiya Roulette, the owner/founder of Russïan Roulette. The Fashion Alchemist (Someone who transforms things for the better) is what best describes her, she turns dust into diamonds. I was excited that she gave me the chance to pick her brain and ask a few questions to see how she does it.
1. What is your name/ where you from?
Kathiya Roulette/ Russia
2. What’s the name of your business & how long have you been designing clothes?
Russïan Roulette, sounds super random for a clothing brand, but the name was inspired by my family tree . My grandfather was one of the city developers in Russia which is a main manufacturer of AK47.
3. What inspired you to design clothes?
I had no choice. I was born and raised in Russia. My mom enrolled me in a private business high school, ( that we couldn’t afford ) with “dress to impress “ uniform requirements so it was equivalent to Instagram flexing type of stress, so I had to improvise with thrift store clothing. I’d turn it into brand new styles. While everyone else was wearing brand names, I was wearing “me”. So you can say I’ve always been a trend setter unconsciously.
4. What is your favorite design that you’ve created?
Shoes! I love designing shoes. I just have a natural intuition when it comes to footwear.
5. What advice would you give someone following in your footsteps?
So simple!
Follow your intuition, don’t be afraid to do what makes YOU happy.
