Spks Wrld Presents: The One and Only Al Ramos

Growing up she was well known for being a stand out athlete in basketball. Over the years she had made a transition to becoming one of the newest sports broadcasters to hit the scene and make a major impact. Altheah Ramos name is ringing bells all through south florida and now you get a chance to get learn a little more about her.

1.  What’s your name and where you from?

My name is Altheah Ramos also known as Al B. I was born and raised on Cape Cod, MA. My nationality is Cape Verde Islands, both parents were born there which makes me first generation.

2.  Sports have played a big part in your life, which sports did you play growing up?

Growing up, basketball was always a big part of my life. I grew up with six older brothers who all played. I played from the age of five to twenty including:
Travel, AAU for Massachusetts & Rhode Island, and school.  I was Varsity all throughout high school, and I played some college but didn’t finish.

3.  We see you played at keystone college, how was that experience?

Keystone was an ok experience. I was a hot head at the time so I didn’t get along much with the Coach which led to not much playing time.

4.  Now you are a radio host and sports broadcaster. Tell us about that transition and was it hard for you giving up basketball?

It was hard to give up the sport that you love. It was kind of like depression, and I was lost and didn’t know what was coming next. The main reason I went to KC was to play so once that went downhill I was lost. I came to realize just because I was done playing that it didn’t mean I needed to lose sight of the game. So, I decided to go to media school and become a sports broadcaster. Becoming a broadcaster filed the void I had.

5.  Who has been your favorite entertainer/athlete you’ve had the chance to interview?

Working with Miami Pro was fun. I was able to see what I need to work on to better myself. Overall, the networking was great and allowed me to meet a lot of great players. It is a great summer league for a great cause and I loved being a part of it.

6.
Who has been your biggest inspiration?

Jason Jackson has inspired me tremendously! He has been my mentor for 2 years and has trained me not only to become a sports broadcaster but also with life. When I have doubts in my mind I can go to him for encouragement. He’s seen talent in me before I’ve seen it in myself and for that I appreciate and thank him.

7.
If you can see one athlete (from any time frame) perform who would it be?

If I could see one athlete perform, I would love to watch Kareem Abdul- Jabbar. He is such a talented man, from not only being one of the best basketball players and NBA all-time leading scorer, to also being a visionary film writer. Abdul gives back to the community, and a contributing columnist for newspapers and magazines. I’d love to watch him do his infamous skyhook!

8.  What can people expect from you in the near future?

“Expect” is a strong word, but people can look forward to hearing and seeing me on TV and social media outlets transforming what I love into words!

 9.  Describe yourself in one word. My name is Al Ramos and I am a?

My name is Al B and I am “learning agility”.
