Spks Wrld Presents: 21 Questions with Dan B

I fondly recall childhood memories of carpooling with Dan B and his family on our way to school, where we would listen to gospel music during those early mornings. We spent our elementary school days together and after classes we'd hang out at the Boys and Girls Club, playing sports and drawing our favorite characters from Dragon Ball Z. As we grew up, so did our unique paths, yet Dan’s creative spirit was always apparent.

Fast forward 15 years, Dan B is now carving his place in the music industry. He embodies creativity, passion, determination, authenticity, and originality—traits that define his artistry. As a true poet, his lyrics resonate deeply. Full of inspiration and intellectual depth, each song tells a powerful story. Dan B is not just a musician—he’s a storyteller on the rise, poised for stardom.

I had the privilege of sitting down with Dan B for an exclusive interview to delve into his creative process and understand how he delivers such captivating performances. Without further ado, here's our "21 Questions with Dan B."

   1. What first got you into music?

My first call for music was in 8th grade a friend of mine name Jacob at Silver Lakes middle school. He was one of my first introductions into music. Seeing him tell stories about his young life at the time was very interesting and he did it to beat. I was intrigued by his energy. I went home and started writing that was my defining moment.

  2. Who or what inspires you to make music?

What inspires me to make music is life and the things that take place during the course of my journey.

   3. How would you describe your style of music?

I describe my music as an extension of me because it’s just my life being told from an artist expression.

    4. What is your creative process like?

My creative process changed with every project I never approach songs the same.

    5. What artist would you most like to collaborate with?

I will one day make a record with J Cole or Kendrick Lamar I think both of them will force my pen to be better.

    6. If you could go open a show for any artist, who would it be?

I would love to open up for Jazmin Sullivan. Her music is very powerful and she is one of the most authentic voices this music industry has ever heard.

   7. What is one message you would give to your fans?

One message I would give to my fans is that dreams only go as far as you gas them.

   8. What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

I would probably be taking up bowling lessons if I didn’t have music.

    9. How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

The internet doesn’t allow real artist to emerge or develop because it’s about the dollar and who can they market.

   10. What is your favorite song to perform?

At this moment in time my favorite song to perform is this song Titled “Calling”. I love this song because it’s one of the few songs that took me a few months to create. It features a really amazing woman and artist name is Yoli Mayor. This song speaks to the longing for a loved one and the upsets and downs of some / most relationships today. After being in a 7-year marriage, now being a single man, I get to create projects like this that can show insight on things I've been through an things that I have learned about myself.

   11. Which artist do you admire the most?

This is a tricky one because I am a fan of all the greats Tupac, Notorious B.I.G, Nas, Jay Z, Big L, and Andre 3000 the list goes on. But I am also big fans of some artist that’s on the rise that inspires me. Especially ones in my city. But to answer the question, I would say I admire Andre 3000 the most because unlike the rest he came in the game in his own lane. I believe that’s how you become legendary and that’s the road I’m on. To be remembered by my fruits and my originality.

  12. As a fan when I listen to your music it’s like pure poetry. To me you share similarities to wale as a lyricist. What artist do you commonly get compared to?

Wow bro thanks! Wale is a favorite of mine as well, I don’t really get comparisons a lot. I will start asking to find out.

   13. What are 3 random things about yourself that most fans wouldn’t know?

I play guitar, keys, and I was self-taught.

    14. Who has had the biggest impact on your career thus far?

Thus far the biggest impact has been those that are close to me. I write from a real place so my friends and family and whatever I may be going through at the time may impact me the most.

    15. Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?

I work out. For hobbies, I play sports, and I’m a great swimmer.

    16. Name your top 5 artist dead or alive?

Tupac, Lil Wayne, Cyhi the Prynce, Notorious B.I.G, and Nas.

    17. If you could collab with any producer, who would it be?

Hmmm this one is hard. I want to work with Timberland because the way he uses his drums. I love to create to his vibes, but I’m also a huge fan of Kanye. There are parts of me that want to work with Kirk Franklin as well. lol I grew up in church and I’m such a fan of how he uses his choice in melodies and choir structure.

     18. What would you say was the most difficult thing you had to overcome entering the music industry and making a name for yourself?

Creating, being separate from others, and finding my voice.

   19. Describe your worst performance. What did you learn from this experience?

My worst performance was one where I forgot all the lines of a record because I was nervous. I also learned from that same show when you don’t practice your art it shows on stage.

    20. How do you think you separate yourself from another artist?

I think I separate myself because I’m honest about the good, the bad, and the ugly of my life.

    21. My name is Dan B and I am a?

My name is Dan B and I’m a creative from Miami, Florida
